Attaching photos and videos to jobs on the phone app

In this article, you'll learn how to add photos and videos to a job from the phone app. It's the easiest way to keep before-and-after shots, damage photos and walkthrough videos with the job they belong to, so anyone who opens the job later can see them.

The app attaches pictures and videos only. Attachments live on jobs; there's no attachments section on estimates or invoices in the app.

To find a job's attachments:

  1. Open the job on the phone app.
  2. Stay on the Details tab and scroll down past the team section.
  3. Look for the Attachments heading. The number of files on the job shows to the right of it, and No attachments yet. shows if there aren't any.

Take a photo or video

  1. Under Attachments, tap the camera button (the left of the two icon buttons).
  2. If the app asks to use your camera, allow it.
  3. Take the photo. To record a video, switch your camera to video first.
  4. Confirm the shot. The app uploads it and the new tile shows in the grid.

You'll see a small spinner next to the buttons while files upload. The buttons are greyed out until it's finished.

Note: If you've turned off camera access for the app, you'll see Camera permission is off. Turn it back on in your phone's settings, then try again.
  1. Under Attachments, tap the gallery button (the right of the two icon buttons).
  2. If the app asks to see your photos, allow it.
  3. Pick the photos and videos you want. You can choose up to 10 at a time.
  4. Confirm your selection. Each one uploads and joins the grid.
Tip: Videos can take a little longer. Until the app has made a thumbnail, a video's tile is dark with a play mark and says Processing…, then Video. You can still play it.

View your attachments

Every photo and video shows as a tile in a grid under Attachments.

  1. Tap a photo or video tile.
  2. It opens full screen. Swipe to move through the rest of the job's pictures and videos.
  3. Close the viewer to go back to the job.

If a file isn't a picture or video (for example, one added some other way), its tile shows the file name, and tapping it opens the file outside the app.

Delete an attachment

  1. Tap the small × on the corner of the tile.
  2. You'll be asked Delete attachment with the file's name. Tap Delete to remove it, or Cancel to keep it.
Warning: Deleting removes the file from the job for everyone. There's no undo.

Attachments on a done job

Once a job's status is Done, the job is locked. You can still open and view every attachment, but the camera and gallery buttons and the × on each tile are hidden. The job shows: This job is done — change the status to reopen it before editing.

To add or remove attachments on a done job, change its status to reopen it, make your changes, then set it back to Done.
