Updating your payment method

In this article, you'll learn how to change the card your Review Monster plan bills to, where to find your invoices, and how to pay one that's due. It's worth doing as soon as you get a new card, so a monthly payment doesn't fail on an old one.

All of this happens in your Review Monster dashboard on the web. Card changes happen on Stripe's secure billing page, so your card number is never typed into the dashboard itself.

To open your billing:

  1. In the dashboard menu, click Account.
  2. In the Account menu, click Billing.
Opening Billing from your Account page

The Billing page has four boxes:

  • Your plan shows what you're subscribed to and the price. Under it you'll see the date it renews, or the date it ends if it's set to cancel. A plan that hasn't started yet shows the date it starts.
  • Payment method shows what's on file: the card brand, the last four digits and the expiry date. The one your plan bills to is marked Default.
  • Invoices lists your recent invoices with the date, invoice number, amount and status.
  • Billing portal has a button that opens everything else.
Note: If you see No billing on file, billing hasn't been set up for your account yet. Get in touch from Contact in the dashboard menu and we'll sort it out.

Change the card you pay with

  1. On the Billing page, find the Payment method box.
  2. Click Update payment method. If nothing's on file yet, the button says Add payment method instead.
  3. You're taken to Stripe's billing page. Enter the new card there and save it.
  4. When you're done, Stripe sends you back to your Account page.
  5. Click Billing again to check the new card is showing.
Tip: Your Account page opens on Profile when you come back, not Billing. That's normal. The new card shows up as soon as you click Billing.

Open the billing portal for everything else

The Open portal button at the bottom of the Billing page takes you to the same Stripe billing page, without jumping straight to the card form. Use it to:

  • Update your billing details
  • See every invoice, not just the recent ones listed in the dashboard
  • Manage your saved payment methods
  1. Scroll down to the Billing portal box.
  2. Click Open portal.
  3. Make your changes, then use the link on Stripe's page to return to your Account page.

Pay an invoice that's due

Each invoice in the Invoices list has a status: Paid, Due, Void or Uncollectible. If one says Due, you can pay it right from the list.

  1. In the Invoices list, find the invoice marked Due.
  2. Click Pay on that row. The invoice opens in a new tab.
  3. Pay it there.

On an invoice that's already paid, the same link says View, so you can look it over. Click PDF on any row to download a copy for your records.

Note: If a payment failed because of an old or expired card, update your card first using the steps above, then come back and pay the invoice that's due.
