In this article, you'll learn how to give a client a billing address that's different from the address you do the work at. That's handy when you clean a rental but send the bill to the owner, or when a business wants invoices mailed to its office.
When you add a client, you only enter one address. That address is their service address, and until you change it, it's their billing address too.
To open a client's addresses on a computer:
- In the menu, click Clients.
- Click the client's name.
- On the left side of their page, click Addresses to open it.
You'll see two cards: Service address and Billing address. The billing card always shows the actual address the client is billed at. If you've never changed it, that's the same address as the service card.

Set a different billing address on a computer
- On the Billing address card, click the pencil.
- Untick Same as service address.
- Start typing the street in Address and pick the match from the list. City, State and Zip fill in for you. You can also type them yourself.
- Add an apartment or suite number in Unit if there is one.
- Click Save.
The billing card now shows the new address. The service address doesn't change.
Go back to billing the service address
- On the Billing address card, click the pencil.
- Tick Same as service address.
- Click Save.
The client is billed at their service address again.
Change the billing address on the phone app
The phone app works a little differently. Instead of typing a billing address into a form, you choose from the client's saved addresses (or add a new one). The CRM in a phone's web browser works the same way.
- Open the client's page.
- Under Billing address, tap the address row.
- A Billing address screen opens with a map and the current billing address under it.
- To use another address you've saved for this client, tap Other addresses, then tap the one you want. It becomes the billing address right away.
- To use an address that isn't saved yet, tap Create new property. Search for it in Search for address, or fill in Address, Apt / Suite / Floor, Zip code, State, City and Country yourself, then tap Save. The new address is saved to the client and set as their billing address.
- Tap the X at the top to go back to the client's page.
How the billing address shows up on your documents
The billing address is the one your estimates, invoices and receipts can print as the client's billing address. Whether it actually appears depends on your document templates. Check that they include the billing address value where you want it.
