Review Monster's September 2026 product update: one inbox, a crew portal and calmer phones

September's updates bring a rebuilt inbox, spam call screening, a crew portal with mileage and pay, and faster estimates, invoices and payments.

Monthly release · Published October 10, 2026 · Covers September 1, 2026 – September 30, 2026

Review Monster today announced a set of product updates released throughout September across Review Monster's CRM, the iPhone and Android apps, your dashboard and client websites. The updates cover how you handle calls and messages, how you work with your crew, and how estimates, invoices and payments move from the first quote to the final review.

Why it matters

Most small service businesses run on a phone that never stops. Calls, texts and website leads come in from every direction. Spam calls interrupt the real ones. And paying a crew at the end of the day usually means a notebook and some guesswork. September's work went after those everyday headaches, so there's less to keep track of and fewer places for things to slip.

What changed

One inbox for every conversation

Calls, texts, emails, voicemails and website chat now sit in one inbox that updates the moment something arrives, with a short summary written under every call and voicemail. You can see what a customer wanted at a glance and reply from the same screen, whether you're at a desk or on the job.

Fewer spam calls

Callers whose numbers fail the phone carriers' verification can be sent straight to voicemail, unknown callers can be asked to press 1 before your phone rings, and robocall voicemails are cleared out on their own. Blocked callers have their own page, and blocking someone also turns away their texts. Your phone rings for customers, not for robots.

A crew portal for subcontractors

Subcontractors can now sign in to the iPhone and Android apps with their phone number to see their schedule, open job details, add photos and video, keep their own details and W-9 current, and log mileage automatically while they're clocked in. A new Crew to pay card on your home screen shows hours, mileage and receipts for each person, so you can settle up at the end of the day without doing the math by hand.

Scheduling that fits how you work

The calendar reopens on the view you left, shows overlapping jobs side by side, filters by tag, and lets you click or drag on a day to start a new job. You can also add calendar notes, set up recurring jobs, and build shifts with roles and permissions for your team. The schedule stays readable on a busy day, and everyone sees only what they need.

Estimates, invoices and payments

Estimates and invoices can be designed, sent for signature and tracked from the job, with optional add-ons the customer can tick, deposits, and discounts as a dollar amount or a percentage. Viewed, approved and paid show up on the job's timeline. Past-due reminders go out on their own, and a job's balance drops to zero the moment a payment lands, tips included. You'll spend less time chasing money and checking what's been paid.

A smoother start, and more reviews

New clients now set up their account through one guided onboarding flow, and past customers can be added one at a time or from a spreadsheet straight into the review-request queue. Every phone number and email is checked before an automated text or email goes out, and Do Not Disturb can be set per channel. Review requests reach real customers, and the ones who asked not to hear from you don't.

"Running a service business means juggling a lot of small things at once," said Eric Hinderager, founder of Review Monster. "These updates put calls, messages, crew pay and payments where you can actually find them, so you spend less time keeping track and more time doing the work."

Other updates

You can now choose notification sounds for calls, texts, emails and new leads. One login can switch between several companies from the home screen, and linked businesses can share an inbox and calendar. Website form leads arrive with their photos as pictures, the website chat widget is ready on every site we build, and links in a job description are clickable. Face ID now asks only after a week away, failed texts can be retried with one tap, and job videos play right from the job's attachments.
